We’re excited to welcome Professor Brian J. Johnson, Professor Perry Bateson, and Professor Shawn Albrecht to Eight Days Martial Arts for a special day of high-level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instruction.
With decades of combined experience as instructors and competitors, these three coaches bring an incredible depth of knowledge to the mats. This is a unique opportunity to learn directly from accomplished instructors who are part of the lineage and coaching network behind Eight Days.

The seminars are open to all adult Jiu Jitsu practitioners, regardless of experience level.
Whether you train at Eight Days, currently train at another gym, or have trained in the past and are looking to get back on the mats, you’re welcome to join us.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS
PROFESSOR BRIAN J. JOHNSON
5th-Degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt
Professor Brian J. Johnson is the owner and head instructor of Northwest Jiu Jitsu Academy in Seattle and a 5th-degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt under Rigan Machado, David Meyer, and John Will.
Brian began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 1994 and has built an extraordinary career as both a competitor and instructor. His competition accomplishments include multiple IBJJF World, Pan American, and National championships, in both Gi and No-Gi, as well as titles across numerous major grappling organizations.
Brian is also at the top of the lineage that connects Northwest Jiu Jitsu Academy to Eight Days Martial Arts.
PROFESSOR PERRY BATESON
3rd-Degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt
Professor Perry Bateson is the owner and lead instructor of Northwest Jiu Jitsu Academy in Maple Ridge, BC.
Perry has been studying martial arts since 1985 and began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2000. His background spans BJJ, Tae Kwon Do, Kung Fu, self-defence, conflict resolution, and fitness, with decades of experience teaching students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Perry is also an accomplished competitor, with multiple IBJJF World Master, Pan, European, and No-Gi titles to his name.
PROFESSOR SHAWN ALBRECHT
3rd-Degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt
Professor Shawn Albrecht is a 3rd-degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt and co-owner and head BJJ instructor at Frontline Functional Training & Martial Arts in Port Coquitlam, BC.
With more than 20 years of martial arts experience and nearly 50 MMA bouts, Shawn brings extensive experience as both a competitor and coach. He has coached multiple world champions and is known for developing high-level grapplers while maintaining a welcoming and supportive training environment.
Shawn awarded Coach Bobby his BJJ black belt and is an important part of the lineage connecting Eight Days to Professor Brian J. Johnson.

Coach Bobby earned his BJJ black belt under Professor Shawn Albrecht, who is a 3rd-degree black belt under Professor Brian J. Johnson. Brian is a 5th-degree black belt under Rigan Machado, David Meyer, and John Will.
